It's time for an update to how we handle time! Now that we are a couple days into the first season of this year, I'll explain how our flow of time will now work. We will be keeping double time, but our time will be more fluid. Essentially, from here on, you will be allowed to back date threads.

All threads from here on out will need to have a date AND time listed in the thread title. This will allow users to see exactly when a thread occurred.

Previously, if you posted a new thread, the time and date that thread was posted was the time in which that event was happening. We are altering the rules regarding timelines to allow you to backdate threads for any date in the current year. (This is Year 3.) So this year started on 8.29.19. You may date a thread from the current date backward to the first day of the year. So as today is 8/31/19, you may date a thread for any date between 8/29/19 and 8.31.19. You may not date threads forward.

So as the year progresses, you will be able to date threads for any time that has already passed in the year, but you must be careful not to break your own character's timelines. The best way to track a character's timeline is to go to their profile and click the button on it labelled "Thread Log". It shows every thread the character has ever participated in. Likewise, events that would break your timelines should also be carefully monitored. So, for example, if I posted a thread for a character dated for today in the desert, it would break the timeline if I posted a thread dated for the 29th in which they ended up dying.

Excessively breaking your own timelines or other characters' timelines is frowned upon and if done consistently, Staff may intervene. Tomorrow I will be instituting changes to leader logs and pregnancies that reflect these changes, so keep an eye out! Please DM or PM a staffer if you have any questions.

Vulcan Valerius
Everyone knows by now that fairy tales are not found

The dark canine continued his search, though his encounter with Dragon was fresh in his mind. His initial anger had faded now that he had been walking for a while. Winding up in the moor, he just stuck to walking around, occasionally sniffing at the air or he ground to see if Mihnue was around. Sadly however, he wasn't finding any sign that she had been here. Not a scent, not a piece of fur, not even a single feather. The wolf huffed in disappointment as he continued on. He couldn't stop looking simply because it was taking longer than he wanted.

-Timeskip-

It was almost sunset when he decided to stop searching the area for his friend. #Explosion was activated for the sake of practice and he put up a #Flame Prison before walking through it (#Fireproof protecting him). Instead, Vulcan decided to look for something that might be useful. Maybe he'd find a couple runestones while he was out here. As he walked around, he occasionally peeked into a group of crowded bushes or moved around a couple rocks to try and reveal any runestones. Going to what he deemed the last bush he would check out before quitting, he poked his head through the leaves to see what may have been hiding inside.

Suddenly, he felt the ground underneath him and he fell through the brush onto something hard. A low groan was released at the pain radiating through the left side of his body. That fall would definitely leave a bruise. The antlered man shook the dirt and bits of grass off of his head before looking up at the hole above him. He then looked around and it seemed like he had fallen through some sort of Cavern. He glanced up at the hole overhead once more before deciding to explore said cavern, his curiosity getting the better of him. Rising to his feet, he shook the debris out of his coat before walking forward. #Spitfire was used to aid Vulcan in seeing ahead of him temporarily, just to make sure he didn't run into anything.

(Explosion & Flame Prison practiced 2/5)

As the canine continues to walk down the dark cavern, it seems to become narrower and narrower. The occasional flame that lights up Vulcan's path reveals the walls of the tunnel. They are made of limestone, and the occasional bug can be seen scuttling across the floor or wall. At the sight of Vulcan's fire, they quickly scamper away. After a few moments of Vulcan walking, the cave walls have narrowed down so much that they are brushing against his sides. The stony wall is rough in texture, and the air is getting colder by the second. It seems that the tunnel is leading to nowhere except a frigid dead end. However, this all changes when the walls suddenly widen again as the wolf enters a room with light flooding the inside. There is an ominous green glow that originates from a group of green crystal stalactites. At the far end of the room directly across from Vulcan is a puzzle upon the wall. It's made of levers, dials, switches, and more.

Large paws carried him through the dark tunnel. The only time he could see was when he released fire balls from his maw. Bugs scurried away at the sight of it, perhaps in fear of being burned themselves. The walls seemed to get narrower, something he hadn't expected. The rough walls began to brush against his sides and the air began to get colder. With each passing second, it only seemed to be getting chillier, so Vulcan activated #thermometer to make himself warmer. He wondered if there was anything here. Maybe it lead to nowhere. The dark canine contemplated leaving until suddenly, the walls seemed to widen and he found himself in a room.

Looking up, he noticed the crystals hanging like icicles from the ceiling. And what they seemed to emit, was light. On the wall in front of him, was a puzzle. It had lever, switches, buttons, and more. What he was supposed to do with the puzzle however, he didn't know. He recalled Eura mentioning that her temple was underground. Maybe solving the puzzle would enable him to enter it? Well... she didn't say anything about a puzzle. Instead, she said the temples could only be accessed using temple herbs. Perhaps the plant in his satchel was one of those herbs.

Vulcan slipped his head into his bag before pulling out the dark green plant that held purple berries. He walked over to the wall, set the plant down, and waited. He allowed a few moments to pass, but nothing seemed to happen. He stared at the plant, not quite sure how to use it. Most herbs were eaten or applied to wounds, but he had no wounds, and he doubted that a temple herbs was used for that. Thus, he decided that he might need to eat it, and so, he did. The flavor wasn't the most interesting, but he did notice how the puzzle became much more clear to him. With that in mind, he moved the levers, dials, switches, and pressed a number of buttons to solve the puzzle.

A door nearby slid open, so he walked through to find himself in a cavern. At the end lay the temple. Along the walls were a story of Omne, illuminated by torches. It showed it's creation, and that someone betrayed the gods. Said creature, went from being one species, to a mixture of many. Could that have been... Rudis? It surely looked like him. It had to have been him. That was why they were here, and why the beast looked so... hideous. The jumble of creatures that he was, all because he disagreed with the gods and stole from them. But... what did he steal?

Entering the temple, he noticed that it was illuminated by floating runestones, much like the ones Eura had used when the gods had first revealed themselves. On the runestones, there looked to be weird shapes and letters. Some of the letters were Latin, but most were not. At the center of said temple, was an altar, and it seemed to be empty. That meant he must have been the first to come here. He made his way to the massive runestone before getting the pearl he had acquired from beast that they had killed. It was probably a lousy gift, but it was all he had with him. He had eaten the herb after all. He didn't know if she goddess was currently here, but he examined the glyphs on the floating stones, wondering if they held a stories of their own, or if they meant anything.

E u r a
I watched the storm, so terrific yet beautiful

Her attention hadn't been on Vulcan when he had started his search for her temple. Instead, her attention was mainly on the groups that had begun to form and grow. It caused a warm shiver to creep through her heart, and a soft smile tugged at the corner of her lips. It was amazing how quickly they had adapted to the new environment they had been thrown in. Her eyes danced amongst the mortals, watching how one might watch a tank of fish. Oh, how fragile they were. Did they know that their flame could be extinguished by the right breeze? That every breath they took was only thanks to them? She sighed as she turned her gaze away from the creatures below. 'I wonder where Cadis is...' the thought echoed in her head as she began to walk away. 'Maybe he is-'

Her thoughts came to a screeching halt as she felt something tug at her being. Her attention turned towards her temple. It seemed someone had stumbled upon it at last. She closed her eyes, allowing the world around her to morph into the darkness of the cavern that led to her cave. She was now in the mortal realm. He body was that of a bear, a gigantic one at that. Her large paws stepped out from the walls. A story that had come to life. She was behind him, and she smiled as her eyes opened. A bright green glow adorned her grizzly features as her iridescent orbs focused on Vulcan. Her giant body shook the ground slightly as her back legs hopped out of the wall. She shook her body as if she had just woken from a long sleep. It was odd, taking the shape of a bear. She definitely wasn't used to it.

With her long thick legs, she was soon next to the canine. She observed him, a soft smile turning the corner of her lips upwards. Her gaze then returned to the gift he brought. There was no reaction to the pearls that shined softly in the dim light. The battle they had endured, and the anger she had felt during that time came to surface. Her eyes turned back to him, and she cleared her throat.

"Vulcan Valerius, you have done well to come here. I recognize your devotion."  she pauses to allow him to say anything if he wants. Her gaze flicks to the offering he had brought then back to him. "Tell me, why have you decided to give this as a gift? We had given it to you all as a gift, you know?"

She walks | She talks | She thinks...
