It's time for an update to how we handle time! Now that we are a couple days into the first season of this year, I'll explain how our flow of time will now work. We will be keeping double time, but our time will be more fluid. Essentially, from here on, you will be allowed to back date threads.

All threads from here on out will need to have a date AND time listed in the thread title. This will allow users to see exactly when a thread occurred.

Previously, if you posted a new thread, the time and date that thread was posted was the time in which that event was happening. We are altering the rules regarding timelines to allow you to backdate threads for any date in the current year. (This is Year 3.) So this year started on 8.29.19. You may date a thread from the current date backward to the first day of the year. So as today is 8/31/19, you may date a thread for any date between 8/29/19 and 8.31.19. You may not date threads forward.

So as the year progresses, you will be able to date threads for any time that has already passed in the year, but you must be careful not to break your own character's timelines. The best way to track a character's timeline is to go to their profile and click the button on it labelled "Thread Log". It shows every thread the character has ever participated in. Likewise, events that would break your timelines should also be carefully monitored. So, for example, if I posted a thread for a character dated for today in the desert, it would break the timeline if I posted a thread dated for the 29th in which they ended up dying.

Excessively breaking your own timelines or other characters' timelines is frowned upon and if done consistently, Staff may intervene. Tomorrow I will be instituting changes to leader logs and pregnancies that reflect these changes, so keep an eye out! Please DM or PM a staffer if you have any questions.

Stage Two: Anger

Denial had come and gone. It had ended the morning Garridan woke up to maggots spilling from his father's mouth and wounds. Ever since that morning he no longer denied that his dad was gone. He knew that he would never stand up again. He would rot into the ground and nothing more.
He would not, however.
His leg had long since healed. And nasty scar remained in its place. The splint that had been used was unbearable. He was glad it was finally off, but it was difficult to get used to walking again. The muscle had seemingly disappeared, and the fur smelled... kinda weird.
That's why he was at one of many rivers in the forest soaking his leg in the shallow water. His glowing claws attracted tiny fish and tadpoles. For a brief moment he felt relaxed. He very slowly lifted his good paw out of the water and waited for the right moment. Finally a fish about the size of his own paw was attracted to his glowing claws. With a quick swipe his claws hooked into the fishes skin and tore it open. Blood spilled into the water and air as the fish was sent flying to the opposite side of the bank. It flopped lazily there, and Garridan quickly trotted towards it.

Memories of the meeting suddenly rushed his head. He frowned heavily as he stood over the fish. It's side spilling blood. A single claw reached to puncture the eye of the fish. His eyes became dull as he stared off into nothing.

"It should've been the mean man. Dad should've won." The words were murmured quietly to himself. His eyes were void of any emotion as he continued to sink his claw further and further into the fish.

@KittyKookiez @Split and other siblings.

In the weeks following Father's absence, Garen had been coping differently than his siblings. Everyone had their own unique ways to grieve.

Their new den did not feel like home, being with that winged woman he once, for a brief time, loved for her amazing wings. It felt like he was living with a stranger, surrounded by his injured and healing siblings.

Garen didn't speak much to everyone. The most anyone ever got out of him were a few sentences a day, communicating the bare necessities like I'm hungry or I have to go pee. His kin managed to get more out of him, but even then he would be in a somber and rarely-talkative mood.

Most of his days were spent moping around on his own, never straying too far from the den. If his siblings caught him away, he wouldn't hide such a fact, nor did he ever deny them the chance to walk with him. On one such day, however--which happened to be today--he felt a weird warmth inside him. It felt kind of similar to when he would cuddle with his siblings, except this warmth made his cheeks redder than normal, and he felt a weird energy going through him.

Garen was walking on his own, his ears instinctively listening out for danger. He was so lost in thought that he wasn't really using his eyes, only his ears and nose, so he ended up stumbling and falling on a rock.

He scraped his chin a bit and a familiar soreness spread through his left toe. The claw was slightly chipped and ruined now. He didn't like the sore feeling, or the stinging feeling...the boy looks to the source of his pain: the stupid rock that made him fall.

I wouldn't feel bad if you hadn't made me trip! He thought subconsciously, and kneeled down into an imperfect and babyish stalker position, before pouncing and nearly tripping over the darn rock again. But he got it.

He smothered the rock with his claws, the warmth inside of him--anger, unbeknownst to him--fueled his involuntary use of kiln on the stupid rock. Who put this rock here anyway? Stupid rocks.

Maybe the two boys weren't that different after all.

Roux lay nearby, watching her brothers silently. She spoke perhaps more rarely than Garen. She had so little to say. When she saw Garen trip, she startled to her paws, ears pinning to her head as she watched him leap on it. The young girl padded toward him, ears back, intent on looking him over. She had to look out for her brothers. They and Belle were all she had and she couldn't lose them too. Mama and daddy were gone, but they weren't. She had found she couldn't sleep when they were gone, frankly, she couldn't stand to do without them.

She tried to brush against her brother's side, her face full of concern. She didn't say anything, not yet. Sometimes it felt like words were trapped in her throat, it had felt that way since daddy had lost. She just looked at Garen, her eyes wide. He was already bigger than her and she looked up at him, slowly seating herself. From what she saw, she thought his paw must be hurt and she wanted to examine it for herself. She needed to assure herself he wasn't hurt like daddy had been hurt.
