8.29.19 - 10.13.19

It's time for an update to how we handle time! Now that we are a couple days into the first season of this year, I'll explain how our flow of time will now work. We will be keeping double time, but our time will be more fluid. Essentially, from here on, you will be allowed to back date threads.

All threads from here on out will need to have a date AND time listed in the thread title. This will allow users to see exactly when a thread occurred.

Previously, if you posted a new thread, the time and date that thread was posted was the time in which that event was happening. We are altering the rules regarding timelines to allow you to backdate threads for any date in the current year. (This is Year 3.) So this year started on 8.29.19. You may date a thread from the current date backward to the first day of the year. So as today is 8/31/19, you may date a thread for any date between 8/29/19 and 8.31.19. You may not date threads forward.

So as the year progresses, you will be able to date threads for any time that has already passed in the year, but you must be careful not to break your own character's timelines. The best way to track a character's timeline is to go to their profile and click the button on it labelled "Thread Log". It shows every thread the character has ever participated in. Likewise, events that would break your timelines should also be carefully monitored. So, for example, if I posted a thread for a character dated for today in the desert, it would break the timeline if I posted a thread dated for the 29th in which they ended up dying.

Excessively breaking your own timelines or other characters' timelines is frowned upon and if done consistently, Staff may intervene. Tomorrow I will be instituting changes to leader logs and pregnancies that reflect these changes, so keep an eye out! Please DM or PM a staffer if you have any questions.

Dijana was lying on the cold stone filled beach, their coldness seeping into her body. Though, she didn’t care at the moment. She awoke in this new world crying, her heart aching for the children she had just spent the past dozen or so hours delivering… right before she died of course. Her emotions were still raw and intense and Dijana struggled to pull her body up off the ground. Where was she? Was this the afterlife? She slowly made her way over to a pool of water and looked at herself, blue eyes of sea and ice stared back at her. She still wore the necklace that the Queen gifted her when she took on the position of head servant. On her face was tear stained fur from all the crying she had been doing it. Otherwise, Dijana looked exactly the same.

She looked at herself in the water as she took deep breaths, trying to regain her composure. It was difficult, mentally she still felt as if she was in the room, and just had given birth to her children. Physically though, she looked as if she never had. She took in a deep breath, straightened her posture to a more dignified manner and attempted to keep her face neutral. She could cry later, when she figured out where she was. She could grieve and mourn once she knew she was safe. She looked around, and then began to walk in a random direction trying to see what she could find. Though, trying to focus on her surroundings kept get overshadowed by her thoughts. Dijana was weak in this very moment, and she knew it.

Videl returned to the place she had awoken. She wasn't completely sure why. It was like she expected her son to show up there. After all, that was a perfectly reasonable assumption. If she had found herself here, maybe he would too? But, for all she knew, he was dead or perhaps whisked to some other dimension. They could be lightyears apart from each other. The thought of never seeing him again made her heart ache.

It wasn't Fjord the madam saw, oh no, but there was indeed someone. Yes, the leopardess came across a familiar sight. A woman, not unlike herself though perhaps of different kin, passed out on the wet rocks. Or... was she conscious? She couldn't tell. She'd have to come closer. As she did, the other feline actually got up and started walking off. She appeared unsteady and, upon closing the distance, very very sad. "Oh, miss..." Videl called, voice smooth like music. She'd attempt to pick up her pace to fall in stride next to Dijana. "How could a lady as lovely as you be so sad?" It was true. The somewhat smaller feline was quite adorable. Videl's eyes were drawn to the amazing ornate jewelry at her throat. It seemed form-fitted to her, it was so perfect... as was she.

Captivating blue hues landed on a female figure as she approached and spoke to her. The woman was a slightly larger leopard and had a graceful almost melodic voice. ‘Oh miss… How could a lady as lovely as you be so sad?’ Dijana’s eyes briefly locked with the unknown womans’ before she looked away slightly towards the lady’s cheek habitually. It was rude to look into the eyes of another, her king and queen took it as ‘challenging’, so Dijana was trained to look slightly away from the eyes, to never meet them.

Dijana knew the woman had seen her tears, so there was no getting out of that. She also did not fail to notice the woman’s flirtatious yet complimenting words, it caused her cheeks to flush slightly. Dijana constantly got compliments on her appearance, yet she still managed to maintain that feeling of shyness the compliments gave her. If she were to tell this woman the truth about what happened however, Dijana would surely sound mad. Giving birth, dying and suddenly waking up in a strange world sounded absolutely mad.

She opened her mouth, letting her warm Croatian accent shine through her words, "Please, forgive my appearance. I am just a bit shaken. I… do not know where I am at.” Her demeanor maintained a slightly submissive yet retained her almost regal appearance. The woman looked helpful, perhaps she knew of these lands. "My name is Dijana Novak.” She dipped her head and body into a graceful sort of curtsy. Her mannerisms clearly gave off her status, submissive, yet almost regal. She lifted her head letting her blue hued eyes rest upon the woman’s face again, making sure not to make complete eye contact. "May I graced with your name Madam?” Graced… a term of servitude. It was always supposed to be the servant’s pleasure to serve. They should always be humble and grateful for the opportunity. Or so Dijana was taught.

Videl, astute as she was, noticed the blush on the girl's face and grinned. She was, quite frankly, adorable. Ears flicked gently at her words and great purples twitched at each minute movement Dijana had. Videl as trying--and perhaps failing--at reading the cougar. She seemed lost, unsure, or maybe just.... Shy? It didn't seem to match her lavish jeweled appearance. But the madam knew better than to judge a book by its cover.

"I am Madam Videl Amant." The leopardess stopped and introduced herself. "Do not be afraid. I was in your place not too long ago." Try as she might, Videl couldn't seem to meet the woman's gaze. Dijana's gaze appeared to dance around her own, never locking. "It'll sound crazy... But I woke up here randomly too. Someone told me that the gods of this land--omne--took our souls from other worlds and placed them here." Videl wanted so desperately to see inside those pretty eyes, see if she thought she was crazy, too. That's when something strange happened. Peruse attempted to detect the strongest current emotion from her new companion.

Dijana heard the woman introduced herself as ‘Madam Videl Amant.’ Though, Dijana had no experience or knowledge of brothel titles and what exactly ‘Madam’ probably meant to Videl. To Dijana, Madam was the same as Lady, Miss, Ma’am or the like. Madam Videl kept speaking, explaining that she was recently in the same position as Dijana was currently in. Videl explained how she woke up randomly as well, that the gods of these lands take souls from others and place them here. Dijana’s piercing blue eyes met Videls as they widened. She was in shock. "You don’t sound crazy... Then that means..” That meant, there really was no way for her to get home. No way she would ever see her children. She looked down for a moment with an unreadable face, trying to get over the shock of it all.

While she had a number of emotions swirling around her right now shock, sadness, fear, grief happened to be the largest in her heart right now. She was grieving what she no longer could see, the memories she would miss out on making. Tears began to form in her eyes. "I am sorry Madam Videl, I am usually not like this. Before I woke up here… I just got done giving birth to three beautiful babies. I, did not make it past a few moments after that. I suppose I may be a bit emotional still from it all.” Dijana applied logic to her emotions, she always did. She was expected to be in constant control of them, however right now not as much.

Oc note. Videl could sense Dijana’s grief.

A wave of sickening grief washed over Videl. Her heart went out to Dijana. Videl wasn't always empathetic, but when she was, cute women were usually on the receiving end. It was hard to trust or even like men, though they were her main clientele. But this girl and she had so much alike. "Oh, my dear..." Videl cooed, genuinely upset for her, "I have lost my children too... They were grown though, so perhaps your pain is far greater." It wasn't a contest that the Madam wanted to win. She'd attempt to draw closer to Dijana and try to press her side into the other's. A small comfort, but it was something. "It's perfectly fine to be emotional. Best to let it out. No one is around and I won't judge you."

Dijana listened to the Madam’s words, soaking in her gentle voice and calming words. Madam Videl let her know that she was missing her children too. They had something in common, and to Dijana it was something strong in common, unlike losing her home, or her rank, or even her friends… losing children was much deeper. As Madam Videl leaned against her, pressing into her side, Dijana leaned back, taking in what comfort it provided.

The Madam’s next words however caused her tears to fall. Madam Videl had given her the okay to cry, something that was strange for a stranger to do, but since Dijana had grown up as a servant being given permission to do something felt almost necessary. Dijana would then attempt to rest her head gently against the Madam’s shoulder attempting to comfort her as well. "I am sorry for your loss as well Madam Videl… I shall not judge you either.” Dijana was unsure of when the Madam had lost her children, or anything about them, but if Videl needed to weep as well, Dijana would do her best to comfort her as well. With all that said, she silently wept for a moment, allowing herself to be comforted, and for once be vulnerable. Her mind raced wondering what she would do next. Where would she go? What was she going to do? She had no place to stay, no place to go to. Her inner thoughts came out as her croatian accented words spilled out on her mouth in a whisper, "I do not know what to do anymore.”

Videl's heart broke. She did well to be stone-cold when she needed to be, but seeing someone cry always broke through to her. Even when she knew it was coming. Small tears pricked even at the corners of her own eyes. She leaned her head down gently onto Dijana's, absorbing her warmth, inhaling her scent. The leopard's tail wrapped itself on the ground around her new friend in a protective half-circle. She couldn't imagine the loss and confusion that she must feel. In that moment, however, Videl felt the need to be strong for Dijana. She would not weep along with her. She would not allow being swallowed by sorrow. No, they had a whole new life ahead of them. If they could break through the pain of their last. Videl could see the future laid down before them. It just took some strength.

"Hey", cooed Videl, "It will be alright." She looked down at the sad little thing and attempted to lick her cheek. A motherly action. It felt strange to be so quickly pulled in to a stranger's bubble, but at the same time, Videl was quite used to intimacy. "You are more than free to travel with me."
