It's time for an update to how we handle time! Now that we are a couple days into the first season of this year, I'll explain how our flow of time will now work. We will be keeping double time, but our time will be more fluid. Essentially, from here on, you will be allowed to back date threads.

All threads from here on out will need to have a date AND time listed in the thread title. This will allow users to see exactly when a thread occurred.

Previously, if you posted a new thread, the time and date that thread was posted was the time in which that event was happening. We are altering the rules regarding timelines to allow you to backdate threads for any date in the current year. (This is Year 3.) So this year started on 8.29.19. You may date a thread from the current date backward to the first day of the year. So as today is 8/31/19, you may date a thread for any date between 8/29/19 and 8.31.19. You may not date threads forward.

So as the year progresses, you will be able to date threads for any time that has already passed in the year, but you must be careful not to break your own character's timelines. The best way to track a character's timeline is to go to their profile and click the button on it labelled "Thread Log". It shows every thread the character has ever participated in. Likewise, events that would break your timelines should also be carefully monitored. So, for example, if I posted a thread for a character dated for today in the desert, it would break the timeline if I posted a thread dated for the 29th in which they ended up dying.

Excessively breaking your own timelines or other characters' timelines is frowned upon and if done consistently, Staff may intervene. Tomorrow I will be instituting changes to leader logs and pregnancies that reflect these changes, so keep an eye out! Please DM or PM a staffer if you have any questions.

It would be the first time that she had ever seen a marshland, let alone be in one, as she moved through the warm bayou waters. The muddy water did little to phase the leopard as she trudged through, stopping every few minutes to check her surroundings for any predators that might be lurking in the marsh, waiting to pounce on her. Fortunately, that didn't happen as the water lessened, changing to thick mud that stuck to her fur like glue, making it even more difficult to move in. Her tail swayed above the thick sticky mud as she kept moving while her body remained somewhat above it as well, being only elbow deep in the brown muck. With how hard it was to move through it, she did not let it keep her from pushing on, feeling more than determined to get through it.

Until she became stuck.

At first, the leopard didn't think much of it as she tugged and pulled at her legs, unable to free them from the muds strong grip. Growling frustratedly, she began to use her tusks to shovel away the mud to help release her legs. Due to shoveling the mud, her muzzle and face became speckled and covered by the thick brown muck. It was a slow process to go through to release her legs from the mud, snarling in irritation when tasting the mud that managed to get in her mouth. Once she was out of the bayou, the first thing she would do was find some water to help clean herself.

If she could get out of this mud first.

The blonde male did not enjoy the bayou.  It was full of sucking muck and alligators and the man was not interested in potentially being eaten while he fought against the mud.  He was moving through the area, however, because he wanted to see if anything of worth could be found within the unappetizing territory.  It would likely be an excellent place to hide things one did not want to be found simply because it was unappealing in almost every way and Shikikan wanted to know the surrounding lands as well as he knew his own territory.  He had been moving slowly through the territory for a little while when a scent hit his nose.

He advanced through the sucking mud toward it, careful with his footing so he would not be lost in it until a leopard came into sight.  He observed her digging at the slimy mud with her tusks and the subsequent snarling.  As he stared, it began to dawn on him that she was stuck.  That, or she was out of her mind.  He moreso imagined stuck, however.  Slightly amused, he trudged toward her, his massive size offerring him the strength to pull himself free when she was unable.

"Stuck?  Perhaps I can help," he remarked, aiming to come to stand beside her.  Frankly, had it been a man, he probably would have turned the opposite direction, but a female always had something to offer him.  A congenial smile spread on his face and he attempted to reach down and grasp her by the scruff.  If permitted, the man would begin trying to haul her out of the mud, his powerful legs churning the mud as he aimed to back up and pull her free.

With all the pulling and shoveling she did, the leopard had finally managed to free her front leg, unfortunately, her three remain legs were still stuck. This would take longer than she had previously thought until a male voice offering help interrupted her, causing the leopard to set her free leg back in the mud without thinking. She turned her head in the direction of the voice, catching the sight of a male lion moving through the mud towards her. As much as she wanted nothing more than to walk away and avoid the lion, she was unable to do so since she was currently stuck. Attacking the lion briefly crossed her mind, but was quickly pushed away as it would do nothing to free her and drain what energy she needed to free herself.

As much as she didn't want the lion's help, she saw no other way to get free quicker.

It unnerved her greatly as she lowered her head, allowing the lion to bite down on her scruff and pull her out of the mud. She would help by pushing her weight forward each time he pulled to loosen the suction the mud had on her legs. Accepting help from another sickened the leopard to her core, but it was a better option than sitting around and waiting for a predator to come by and kill her, although she half-expected the lion to do so while she was helplessly stuck.

The ability to speak was still something she felt uncomfortable with, choosing to stay silent unless she felt the need to say anything. Hearing the words coming from other animals was just as strange as this world, but hearing it in the form of offering help was alright with her. The leopard merely stayed silent while the male lion helped to free her, putting all her focus and strength in getting out of the sticky muck that held her in place.

Although, one question repeated itself in her mind as her blue eyes glanced at the lion every few seconds. Why was he here, in a bayou of all places, helping a trapped leopard?

He dragged the leopard up and back, pulling and straining until he thought the leopardess was on solid ground. It wouldn't do for her to become stuck again, would it? When he was sure she would not become stuck again, he released her and took a step back, a cocky smile on his face. "Well, madam, it seems you are unstuck. What, might I ask, are you doing in a place such as this? Leopards don't usually hunt in areas such as this," he remarked, making conversation but also aiming to gain a little information.

He craned an eyebrow at the female, unaware of her unpersonable disposition. His mind was already turning on the potential she might have as a mate to him. Her tusks intrigued him already and he could see the advantage they might offer if she were to pass them down to a child. Any weapon a creature had was an advantage, and she had an extra one on her face.

She did not give a response to the lion after being freed from the mud, merely giving the male a distrusting look as her tail flicked and twitched nervously. Despite the help she received from the male, it gave her no reason to give in her trust to this lion, remaining silent for the moment. All she wanted to do was find a source of water to clean her fur, and perhaps quench her thirst instead of making conversation with a predator that was bigger and stronger than her. She had her taste of mud for today and did not want it to linger in her mouth longer than it should, assured that it would take the entire day to clean her mud caked fur using her tongue.

The leopard felt that giving the lion a simple response would be a good enough response for his question and hopefully send him on his way. She usually wasn't one for conversation, let alone be social with others, and had no interest in becoming friends. However, if it helped to satisfy the lion, then she would have to give him an answer.

"Passing through." she said, beginning to walk on to find a good water source.

As she passed by the lion, her tail inadvertently grazed across his face, leaving a trail of mud behind.
