It's time for an update to how we handle time! Now that we are a couple days into the first season of this year, I'll explain how our flow of time will now work. We will be keeping double time, but our time will be more fluid. Essentially, from here on, you will be allowed to back date threads.

All threads from here on out will need to have a date AND time listed in the thread title. This will allow users to see exactly when a thread occurred.

Previously, if you posted a new thread, the time and date that thread was posted was the time in which that event was happening. We are altering the rules regarding timelines to allow you to backdate threads for any date in the current year. (This is Year 3.) So this year started on 8.29.19. You may date a thread from the current date backward to the first day of the year. So as today is 8/31/19, you may date a thread for any date between 8/29/19 and 8.31.19. You may not date threads forward.

So as the year progresses, you will be able to date threads for any time that has already passed in the year, but you must be careful not to break your own character's timelines. The best way to track a character's timeline is to go to their profile and click the button on it labelled "Thread Log". It shows every thread the character has ever participated in. Likewise, events that would break your timelines should also be carefully monitored. So, for example, if I posted a thread for a character dated for today in the desert, it would break the timeline if I posted a thread dated for the 29th in which they ended up dying.

Excessively breaking your own timelines or other characters' timelines is frowned upon and if done consistently, Staff may intervene. Tomorrow I will be instituting changes to leader logs and pregnancies that reflect these changes, so keep an eye out! Please DM or PM a staffer if you have any questions.

Mature warning for foul words used.

Since being imprisoned by Vhynan last year Ario had been trying to avoid the man as best as he could. He was still a prisoner to Vhynan but he could at least attempt to stay away from him as much as he could. Winter had turned into spring, though in the rain forest really nothing much had changed and Ario had been wandering around Shison looking at the best places to get herbs, and… other ingredients. He had been racking his brain on what he could possibly mix together to distract, take down, or otherwise incapacitate Vhynan. The thought of someone else stopping him escaping however crossed his mind as well. What the hell was he supposed to do? Take down the whole kingdom? He was like, sixty- five pounds, maybe seventy when wet. He couldn’t just fucking muscle his way out… no Ario relied on his brain mostly versus his body. Maybe that wasn't completely true, he had to rely on his body sometimes for surgery, or healing... but for fighting, hell no. As a trained medic and surgeon he was very aware of how to heal and help creatures, as well as what to stay away from. He could help people who had ingested poisonous plants and the like. Now… he just had to find those plants, if he even could. This was a rain forest, and while yes the plant life here was extremely diverse, it wasn’t the ideal growing climate for EVERY plant. But… he had the best chance here to find what he needed.

Delicate legs carried him as he strolled through the rain forest, keeping his eyes out for different possibly deadly, or at least toxic plants. How under the radar would he have to choose, should he go for something obvious? Or possibly just for a cocktail of lesser toxic plants and make a tea out of them? How much would it take to take down a man who was somewhere around four times his weight? Actually the right question would be, how was he supposed to make that much without getting ill himself,  Ario wasn’t up for dying at an attempt to make the much larger man ill, either by the plants, or by Vhynan himself. So perhaps a toxic tea wasn’t the right way to go about things. ”I…. Could get him drunk?” A variety of fruit grew in the rain forest all year round due to its humidity and heat. Surely he could find some fermented ones that have fallen to the ground. Though… he wasn’t sure how Vhynan was as a drunk, he could turn violent. Perhaps, he should see first before trying to run off? Build up some trust with the man. ”That…. Could work?” It was his best idea that wouldn’t get him killed off the bat possibly. Though… he himself had to not get drunk off of fermented fruit. Ario was a bit of a… lets say needy drunk. Being a needy drunk would work against Ario’s plan, and would reveal a weakness…. Ario was a lightweight… this was a terrible plan. His mind was so preoccupied with his thoughts as he walked that he accidentally stepped on a rock and cut the bottom of his foot slightly. Sterilize kicked in as he winced and reduced the germs quickly. After double checking that the cut was small enough to ignore he decided to look around for some fermented fruit.

After a good thirty minutes Ario had managed to find around ten naturally fermented pineapples, surely this would be enough to make the man drunk. Unless… he had a complete resistance to alcohol or hated pineapple both of those would suck. He should probably find himself some food to fill his stomach so the alcohol in the fruit wouldn’t hit him as hard. He paused for a moment wondering if this plan was just because somewhere he himself really just wanted to be drunk and imagine that this was a whole dream. Maybe he would actually wake up back in his hut at home… that would be nice. Though, he really did enjoy having two working eyes and four legs again. He gave a sigh as he looked at the fruit on the ground.

Oc notes: Vhynan has placed Ario under servitude. Shiki will accept Vhy into Shison, hence why Ario is in rain forest. (thread is still taking place. Have been given permission by Split to post) Making a list of Ario's rules as prior enslavement thread is not yet completed at the time I began this thread. 1. He cannot talk about Vhy unless given permission. 2. He cannot tell anyone that he has been enslaved. 3. Is not allowed to talk about Vhy's other slaves unless given permission. Ario's ears have now been rimmed in a Jade green color (the same color as his eyes) due to Vhynan's slave mark.

More Fun OC notes: Pineapple can grow year round in rain forests <3 Pineapple can also naturally ferment and become alcoholic. :D (Fruit with high sugar concentration can do that.)

[M] for content and strong language.

Dragon prowled. He paced. He threw around his weight and did his best to maintain Shikikan's belief that he was a good little pet, and he thought.

Dragon was not a smart man.

He was a smart ass and he was good at planning how to escape from things in the moment... but he was not a smart man. He tried to recall how he had gotten himself and his mate away from the monkeys as he patrolled the borders of the kingdom. His daughter could use the independence of him patrolling, and he didn't doubt that she would enjoy a little time to explore herself. One day he would take her out of the territory for a bit - show her the world, that it wasn't as bleak as it seemed in Shison. He only prayed that Nala did not recall the murder of the leopard who had four young cubs himself, or what had happened to Karama.

Or to her mother.

His steps came up short.

Her mother had been a queen. A strong, reliable woman. She had been the kind of woman Dragon could love. Could adore. Could spend his life following behind because he trusted her judgement. And now she was reduced to a queen with two cubs at her belly. Dragon's ears dipped against his skull. His tongue passed over his enlarged fangs and he dug his dark nails into the soft earth below him. It had struck him - time and again - that Shikikan needed to go, but never more so than now. Never more so than knowing his daughter was two years old. Shikikan could view her as an adult.

The snarl that ripped from his chest startled a few birds roosting above him. Dragon turned his ire to them, parting his jaws without thought and using #flamethrower as though the magic were second nature to him. And it was. He watched as feathers caught and one of the stupid creatures was felled. His movements were slow, breathing the flames for the full duration of the time he could, vastly enjoying seeing them sparkle and crackle in the air. His daughter was all but grown now. His queen was nothing but a broodmother for the foul blonde beast. And those poor children left behind by the leopard would be grown too. They would be viewed as adults and no doubt one of the boys would try to challenge Dragon for Nala. The thought made his skin crawl and he lowered his head. Set the dying flames on the fallen bird as he approached it. The flames petered out as Dragon advanced, #fireproof protecting his feet and pawpads from the worst even as they grew hot. The bird was a charred mass of flesh, and Dragon took pleasure in clamping his teeth around it, shaking it hard like a ragdoll.

He spent time ripping melted feathers out, mauling the dead thing for the sake of not having to think about what would happen to his family. His family.

"How did we escape those fucking gorillas?" He asked the forest. At some point while he ripped away at the bird he had began to cry; silent tears that dripped from his muzzle. He didn't remember. He had been younger then. His mind was far older than his body here, and his memories of then were faded. All but those of his mate. His pups. Those damnable snow leopards that had done him in. He blinked slowly, leaving the remains of the carcass behind as he traveled farther into the forest.

Dragon's tail dragged behind him, head lowered. He might have looked defeated, but he was listening. Thinking. Hadn't he made them think he was weak? Sickly like his mate? Lured them in close? Then sprang, set the whole thing up in fire when they opened his cage? He wondered if he could convince Shikikan to draw near enough, to not recoil immediately as soon as the flames errupted from his muzzle. His thoughts rolled around, clanging, and only came to a halt when he smelled something... not of Shison.

Well, the truth was they did smell of Shison, but the one time Dragon had come across the poor creature he had decidedly... not been of Shison. In fact Dragon and Karama both had warned the boy and- "You," his voice was flat. Ears twitched slightly and his muzzle curled. It was a twisted smile, nothing of humor apparant. "Can't follow simple instructions, can you?" The snow leopard padded closer, tail twitching behind him. He aimed to loop around the smaller man, surveying Ario critically. He had not looked so closely the first time, but were the markings on the younger man's ears new? "Pretty ears... why are you here? Come to join Shison as a medic? We have one," the scent told Dragon that Ario had been there for longer than the snow leopard would like to admit. The gathered fruits, on the other hand, told Dragon he was likely enjoying himself. "Oh, no, perhaps you prefer the structure of Shison, like that damned wolf," his lip curled back at the thought of Gabriel at the border. Wanting to join. Being willing to show Shikikan his skill. "Or!" Dragon's eyes widened, bright - he was taking his anger out verbally. He knew he was, but he couldn't be bothered to care. "Perhaps you just really, really like having big cats stare you down and tell you what to do. Did I get it?" His tail lashed, gathering dirt and debris in the lengthy fur.

Dragon almost couldn't believe Shikikan would have a use for such a small animal. Almost could not fathom that he would allow another man into the realm. And yet there was little Ario. Dragon was impressed he recalled the animal's name. It was likely because he was the first person not from Shison he had come across in seasons. Likely because he had come across him when he was turning into a highlighter. Dragon was, in a way, looking for a fight he could win. He was looking for someone weaker to take his anger out on. To take the unjustness out on someone else. This truly wasn't fair. Shikikan had children now, Kimagure had two new children to care for, and now Ario was just as doomed to their fate. It wasn't fair because they had warned him.

Ario was working up the courage to call for Vhynan… when stupid entered the area. Dragon, the man he watched change colors seemed to have regained his original color. How lucky for him. Right now though, he seemed angry, Ario didn’t believe it was really at him, but merely being directed at him. Honestly Dragon’s outburst should have scared him, though seeing the man turn such vivid colors, and knowing the man’s lack of intelligence Ario viewed it more like a toddler throwing a tantrum. He had the imagination of one at least.

‘Perhaps you just really, really like having big cats stare you down and tell you what to do. Did I get it?’

Oh.. Ario could snap back at that with something clever, maybe mention how he shouldn’t project his preferences on others. But best keep his tongue in check… at least a little… that would be the smart thing. Dragon did not scare him, though idiots could sometimes be unpredictable. So perhaps he should be a bit scared.

”Are you quite finished with your outburst? I don’t appreciate your verbal abuse.” Ario’s eyes held a firmness to them, like a father would to a child as he scolded them. ”Now if you wish to stop imagining things and use your brain for a moment perhaps you will find the error in your words. You know what… let me point it out to you, it will be easier. Firstly, you told me to pretend I didn’t know you, you clearly broke your own advice there. Secondly, I am not directionally challenged, people have legs and can move as easily as you and I. I went north, as did others. Thirdly, why would I ask for specifics on what to avoid if I was planning on joining this place.” Ario took a deep breath to calm himself as he was getting worked up. ”Though you did notice the green around my ears. That’s a new thing, and I assure you…. It wasn’t me who put it there.” Ario showed a bit of his anger as his muzzle twitched, though it wasn’t towards Dragon, but instead Vhynan. He then gave a large sigh and looked at the ground, whispering in a Persian accent, ”Trust me…. I would much rather be by myself alone with a bunch of plants than deal with anybody. I just wish I could wake up from all this already.”

Ario had not broken any of Vhynan’s rules, he had not outright said he was enslaved… though… if Dragon had even a fraction of a brain cell left in his skull he could put two and two together. It had been implied heavily in his words… Ario wondered though, what would happen… if he did break the rules. Vhynan would probably hurt him. That thought made him shudder slightly.

Dragon's tail twitched; the movement was like a an angry, furious snake. His eyes narrowed on Ario as the smaller man took a stand for himself against Dragon's abuse. It was so much easier to lash out at someone who couldn't stop on him or Nala so easily. It was so much easier to take his anger out on someone else. His lips curled, showing sharp teeth - though it was not necessarily to intimidate. Dragon was simply annoyed.

"Pretending not to know you when you've found your way into Shison would be stupid," the easiest lie would be that Dragon had of course told the man about his home and tried to convince him to join because he had valuable skills... not to run the other way and never look back. Dragon considered what else Ario had to say. Others? Shikikan was a single man. "Some people ask questions to learn how to use the information against those who give it," Dragon said, eyes still narrowed and annoyed, tail still twitching, but his tone having taken on somewhat less hostility. Someone had marked the little creature - a possession. Dragon's ears folded against his skull and he swung his head around slowly, surveying the forest around them. "I didn't think he took captives who didn't come with the land," his voice was low. This was growing more and more ridiculous the longer Shikikan lived.

First Okan became captives to Shikikan. Then he mauled two cubs and murdered their father for trying to protect them. Now he had enslaved another creature for no reason that Dragon could consider. His tail snaked back and forth slowly. "When you wake up from this nightmare, wake the rest of us up too," Dragon wanted nothing more than to go forward and challenge Shikikan for the smaller man. But he knew that unless he did irreparable harm, the result of such actions would cost him Nala. The idea of Shikikan having his paws anywhere near his daughter was enough to make the man's fur begin to stand on end, upper lip curling in disgust. No. Better to play his cards more appropriately. Wait on weakness on the lion's part and then turn him into a charbroiled fur rug.
